Ready to entertain us? Sign up for one of our 10-minute slots; walk-ins will be taken as time allows. Your reward for performing? An appreciative audience and a complimentary glass of wine (soda provided for those under 21).
Fine print: Sound system with microphone will be provided. Bring your own guitar or keyboard with stand or any other instruments that you’d like. All music styles are welcome, as are poets, comedians, storytellers and instrumentalists. Musicians are requested to perform at least one original composition.

Every third Thursday, SAW presents artists who are making the DC area a place for great original artists to be from. This month, Emma Rowley, Todd Wright and Kate Todd are featured.

Emma Rowley is a singer, songwriter and pop recording artist. As a child, she performed in two Broadway productions (Lupone Gypsy 2008, Bye Bye Birdie 2009) and appeared twice as a featured vocalist at Carnegie Hall. She strives to encapsulate moments and feelings with illuminating lyrics and carefully crafted pop melodies to further transport her listeners into her world or simply create a soundtrack for their day-to-daydreamy life.
Kate Todd first started writing songs during her down-time on the set of the award-winning Canadian TV show Radio Free Roscoe, where she portrayed “Shady Lane” teenage singer/songwriter Lily Randall. In 2016 Kate won the Versatile Entertainer of the Year Award at the Josie Music Awards in Nashville, and in 2017 and she was nominated for Female Artist of the Year, and Female Vocalist of the Year. In 2017, she received the Women's International Achievement Award in Toronto for her volunteer work and community service in Canada. At the 2018 Josie
Todd Wright is an American music composer, songwriter and producer from the Washington D.C. area. Todd has collaborate with such artists as Celine Dion, Johnny Hallyday, Butch Walker, Toby Lightman, Lucy Woodward, Audra Mae, Cazzette and numerous Korean pop stars. In addition to Todd’s domestic and international chart success, he is credited with many song placements in TV and film.

Courage to Run is the nation's premier, nonpartisan 5K run/walk and party celebrating women getting civically active and running for office. We are also elevating being healthy to lead effectively in civic life today. The Courage to Run is on Saturday, April 13 in Washington, DC and communities across the country. The Washington, DC race is a USATF-certified, time-chipped race at the Historic Congressional Cemetery and along the Anacostia River in Capitol Hill. The day's festivities kick off at 9 AM with a Kids Dash for Democracy (8 and under), followed by the 5K. Runners return to a big finish-line party, civic fair, live music, speakers, prizes, medals and delicious eats and treats.

Loudoun's annual Battle of the Bands is designed to provide middle school and high school students a safe place to spend a Friday night, while giving local youth bands and soloists a free opportunity to perform in front of their peers competing for a chance to win the opportunity to play at Leesburg's own Tally Ho. This year's prizes include $900 in cash prizes, half and full day studio time, private lessons with professional songwriters, and more!

LINEUP: Hailey Knox & Sahara with Emma Rowley kicking off the show
Hailey Knox doesn’t just sit on the sidelines: she’s become the mastermind behind building and producing her own soulful pop songs. To push her own boundaries, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter has been cutting her teeth on the road the past two years since her debut EP release A Little Awkward, touring with Charlie Puth, Ruth B., and AJR, and making her festival debut at Austin City Limits’ 2018 festival. Because of her live shows, Knox has grown into a powerhouse, building her songs onstage with a loop pedal. Now, she’s ready to show the world the dynamic range of music she’s capable of producing, with her latest release -- the ‘Hardwired Mixtape’. And she does: her latest project feels like a pile of vibrant confetti, sprinkled with never-before-recorded full-length songs and snippets of Frank Ocean-like audio notes she recorded to show that there’s more depth to her artistry. “We called it a mixtape because it’s slightly all over the place, but in a good way,” Knox said of the project. For people who haven’t experienced her live shows, this mixtape is a window into how far she’s come since 2016.
Throughout 11 tracks, Knox’s mixtape combines songs Hailey has been developing and evolving for years and some fresh cuts from GarageBand, working with the producers who discovered her Mike Mangini and Peter Zizzo, along with songwriter Imani Coppola, and showing off her own production skills. But mostly, it’s an inner look at how she spurs creative concepts.
